Inspired by a passion for Cambodia and a commitment to sustainable development, the Song Saa Foundation initiates and promotes projects that improve the wellbeing of the communities and natural environments of the Koh Rong Archipelago and beyond. The foundation ensures independent governance and has a clear sense of mission, moving beyond CSR to multilateral funding and international donor partners. Our guests are able to donate directly to a registered foundation and be confident their money goes directly to projects that protect the Archipelago.
In 2006, we bought the tiny Cambodian island of Koh Ouen, and later, the neighbouring island of Koh Bong. As the first developers in the Koh Rong Archipelago, we felt a deep sense of responsibility to lead by example and set the benchmark for sustainable tourism in the region, demonstrating first-hand how investor interests can be aligned with those of the environment and local communities. In 2007, we launched our primary project – Cambodia’s first-ever marine reserve around our two little islands – and in 2013 we set up the Song Saa Foundation.
The Song Saa Foundation is a registered NGO in Cambodia and a registered charity in Hong Kong. We believe governance and transparency are important, so we make our annual financial audits available to the public, downloadable on the next page.read more
